Horror magazine

1 comment:

  1. The magazine is recognisable as of the horror genre, but less so as a magazine front cover. Whilst conventions such as the Masthead, the film graphic with additiona images and features using different fonts with a strong central image have been followed, the technical skills in realising them are less successful.
Generally the layout is rather empty for a whole magazine and rule of 3rds has not been used for the antagonist.
The layout is not fully as expected with the main image taking up the whole page and the antagonist clearly looking like a teen in make up. There ought to be an attempt to use effects to make her look like an apparition IE black out the eyes,
There is no awareness of use of margins all text goes to the edges of the document so bleed lines would effect the print.
There is some skill in the placement of the title behind the heads. Also the text has been spaced effectively in the leading.
Some choice of fonts while suited to genre cannot be read clearly and some thought into improving this what here using drop shadows, shapes or different colours.
Other than the barcode there are no other institutional conventions followed such as price, date or publishing house. The tag line is from the film but does not tell you what the feature is about - interview?
    To improve
Look at an example and imitate the layout of images and text.
Use margins for the text and title
Make the antagonist look like she is ghostly with opacity and blackout eyes
Revise some of the text so it is clearer to read.
